How Slotathon uses cookies

Slotathon uses cookies and similar technologies for a limited number of purposes.

We do not use Google Analytics to identify visitors by name.

Google states that its default Google Analytics implementation collects user and session statistics, approximate geolocation and browser and device information.

Google Analytics 4 may use first-party cookies including:

• _ga – used to distinguish users; and
• _ga_<container-id> – used to persist session state.

Google lists a default expiry of two years for these cookies, although browser restrictions or Google Analytics settings may shorten that period.

The exact cookies present can depend on the way Google Analytics is configured and on changes made by Google over time.

Our cookie notice

Slotathon uses Cookie Compliance for WordPress to display our cookie notice and provide information about cookie use.

Our current setup uses the plugin’s banner functionality. The banner itself does not automatically block every non-essential script or technology used on the site.

You can also control, restrict or delete cookies using your browser settings.

Your cookie choices

You can use the controls provided on the site, where available, to express your cookie preferences.

You can also manage cookies directly through your web browser.

Most browsers allow you to:

• view cookies stored on your device;
• delete individual cookies or all cookies;
• block cookies from particular websites;
• block third-party cookies; or
• change how cookies are handled in future.

Browser controls vary between browsers and devices.

Blocking all cookies may affect some website functions, including technologies used to remember your preferences.

Analytics and consent

Google Analytics is not required for the main Slotathon content to work.

UK rules require clear information about cookies and other storage or access technologies, and in many circumstances require valid consent before non-essential technologies are used.

We review our analytics and cookie setup as the website develops and may change the way analytics is implemented to reflect legal guidance and the technical controls available to us.

Third-party services

Google Analytics is provided by Google. Google may process information as part of providing its analytics service.

Cookie Compliance for WordPress is used to display cookie information and controls on Slotathon.

Third-party services can change their technologies, cookie names and processing practices over time.

How long cookies last

Different cookies can remain on a device for different lengths of time.

Some are session cookies and disappear when the browser is closed. Others can remain until they expire or are deleted.

Google currently lists a default expiry of two years for the standard _ga and _ga_<container-id> Google Analytics cookies, subject to browser limits and configuration changes.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookies Policy if the technologies used on Slotathon change or if an update is needed to reflect changes in law, guidance or the website.

The review date at the top of this page shows when the policy was last checked.
