Privacy Policy

Slotathon is designed to collect as little personal information as possible.

This policy explains what information may be processed when you use the site or contact us, why we use it and the choices and rights you have.

Last reviewed: 3 October 2026

Who we are

Slotathon is a UK-facing informational website about slot mechanics and game behaviour.

For the purposes of this privacy notice, Slotathon is responsible for the personal information processed through this website.

If you have a privacy question or want to exercise a data protection right, email research@slotathon.com.

What information we process

Slotathon does not operate user accounts, maintain a customer database or build marketing profiles of visitors.

We do not ask visitors to create an account, provide payment information or join a marketing list.

If you contact us

If you email us or use our contact form, we receive the information you choose to provide. This may include:

  • your name;
  • your email address;
  • your message;
  • a game name, Slotathon page or source URL;
  • research evidence or documentation you choose to provide; and
  • any other information you include in your enquiry.

Please do not send passwords, payment details, casino account details or other unnecessary sensitive personal information.

Technical information

Limited technical information may be processed automatically when you use the website. This can include information such as browser and device details, requested pages, timestamps and information needed for security, troubleshooting and website delivery.

Additional information may be processed through Google Analytics where you have chosen to allow analytics, as explained below.

How we use information

Information processed through Slotathon may be used to:

  • read and respond to your message;
  • investigate a correction or research submission;
  • check evidence relating to a game or mechanic;
  • deal with developer, supplier or industry enquiries;
  • deal with commercial enquiries;
  • understand how visitors use Slotathon, where analytics has been allowed;
  • improve the website and its content;
  • protect the website against spam, abuse or security threats; and
  • comply with legal obligations where necessary.

We do not use contact details to add people to marketing lists.

We do not sell or rent personal information.

Research and correction submissions

If you send Slotathon evidence relating to a game, mechanic or published correction, the evidence may remain relevant after your enquiry has been dealt with.

Where practical, we keep the research material we need without retaining unnecessary personal contact information with it.

If material is confidential or restricted, tell us before sending it. We may be able to record what the evidence supports without republishing the underlying material.

Please do not send documents you are not authorised to share.

You can read more about our research process on the How We Research page.

Google Analytics

Slotathon uses Google Analytics to understand how people use the website. This helps us understand things such as how many people visit, which pages are viewed and how visitors move around the site.

Google Analytics may process information including user and session statistics, approximate location, browser and device information, and information about pages viewed.

For visitors in the UK, Google states that Google Analytics does not log or store individual IP addresses. IP addresses may be used briefly to derive approximate location information before being discarded.

Google Analytics uses identifiers, including first-party cookies, to distinguish visitors and sessions when analytics storage has been allowed.

We do not use Google Analytics to identify visitors by name.

You can change or withdraw your analytics choice using the cookie settings available on the site.

Cookies and similar technologies

Slotathon uses cookies or similar technologies that are necessary for the website to function, remain secure or remember privacy choices.

We also use optional analytics technologies through Google Analytics.

Google Analytics may use first-party cookies including _ga and _ga_<container-id>. Google describes these as being used to distinguish users and maintain session information.

Google lists a default lifetime of up to two years for these cookies, although browser restrictions and analytics configuration can shorten that period.

Analytics cookies are optional and require your choice through the cookie controls.

You can change your cookie preferences at any time using the cookie settings available on the site.

Why we are allowed to use information

UK data protection law requires a lawful basis for processing personal information.

Contact and research enquiries

For most enquiries, corrections and research submissions, we rely on our legitimate interests in operating Slotathon, responding to messages, maintaining accurate research, correcting published information and protecting the website.

Google Analytics

Where consent is required for Google Analytics or analytics cookies, we rely on your consent. You can withdraw that consent at any time through the site’s cookie settings.

Cookie consent records

We may process records of cookie choices where necessary to respect those choices and demonstrate compliance with privacy and cookie requirements.

Legal obligations

We may process information where necessary to comply with a legal obligation.

Who information may be shared with

We do not share personal information more widely than is necessary to operate Slotathon.

Limited information may be processed by services used for website delivery, email, website security, spam prevention, backups and other essential technical functions.

Where you allow analytics, information is processed using Google Analytics.

Cookie choices may also be processed through the Cookie Compliance service used to operate our consent system.

We may disclose information where required by law or where reasonably necessary to protect the security, rights or integrity of Slotathon or other people.

How long we keep information

We do not keep personal information for longer than we reasonably need it.

Contact messages are kept only for as long as necessary to deal with the enquiry and any reasonable follow-up.

If a submission contains research evidence that remains relevant to Slotathon, we may retain that evidence while removing or minimising personal contact information where practical.

Technical and security information is kept only for as long as needed for operational, security or legal purposes.

Google Analytics retention is controlled through our Analytics settings and Google’s own retention controls. We aim to retain analytics information only for as long as it remains useful for understanding and improving the site.

Cookie-consent records may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to remember and demonstrate the privacy choices made through the site.

Processing outside the UK

Some services used to operate Slotathon, including analytics, email and consent-management services, may process information outside the United Kingdom.

Where UK data protection law treats this as a restricted international transfer, the relevant service provider is required to use an appropriate transfer mechanism or other lawful safeguard.

This may include transfers to countries covered by UK adequacy regulations or the use of approved contractual safeguards.

Your data protection rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law may give you rights over your personal information. These can include the right to:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you;
  • ask for inaccurate information to be corrected;
  • ask for personal information to be deleted in certain circumstances;
  • ask us to restrict how information is used in certain circumstances;
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests;
  • receive certain information in a portable form where the right to data portability applies; and
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

These rights do not apply in exactly the same way in every situation.

To make a request, email research@slotathon.com. We may need enough information to confirm that the request relates to you.

Your right to object

If we process your personal information on the basis of legitimate interests, you have the right to object to that processing in certain circumstances.

Email research@slotathon.com if you want to raise an objection.

Automated decision-making

Slotathon does not use personal information to make solely automated decisions about individuals that have legal or similarly significant effects.

How we protect information

We take reasonable steps to limit the personal information Slotathon collects and to protect information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or disclosure.

No website or internet service can guarantee absolute security, which is one reason we avoid collecting personal information that Slotathon does not need.

Privacy questions and complaints

If you have a question or concern about how Slotathon has handled your information, email research@slotathon.com.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK’s data protection regulator.

You can find information about making a complaint on the Information Commissioner’s Office website.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy if the way Slotathon handles information changes, if new services are introduced or if an update is needed to reflect changes in the law or the website.

The review date at the top of this page shows when the policy was last checked.
