Sugar Rush Slot: RTP, Cluster Pays and Multipliers

Sugar Rush is a 7×7 Pragmatic Play slot built around Cluster Pays, tumbling wins and Multiplier Spots tied to individual grid positions. Winning symbols disappear, replacements fall into the gaps and repeat wins on the same cells can build multipliers from x2 up to x128. During Free Spins, Sugar Rush keeps remembering those marked positions across the whole feature instead of clearing them when one tumble sequence ends.

How Sugar Rush works

Sugar Rush does not use paylines. Instead, it pays through clusters on a 7×7 grid. A winning cluster needs at least five matching regular symbols connected horizontally or vertically. Diagonal contact on its own does not join symbols into the same cluster.

Once a winning cluster is paid, the winning symbols disappear. The remaining symbols fall into the empty spaces and new symbols enter from above. If the new arrangement creates another qualifying cluster, the process repeats. Pragmatic Play calls this the Tumble Feature; Slotathon groups the behaviour with Cascading Reels.

Sugar Rush Tumble Feature with winning symbols disappearing from marked positions
Winning symbols disappear during the Tumble Feature before replacements fall into the gaps.

That loop is the easy part. The clever bit is that Sugar Rush also remembers where winning symbols exploded. If later winning symbols disappear from the same cells, those positions can start developing into Multiplier Spots.

The basic loop: cluster win → winning symbols disappear → replacements tumble in → another cluster may form → repeat hits on the same positions can build multipliers.

How do Multiplier Spots work in Sugar Rush?

A winning explosion marks the grid cell where the symbol was removed. That first mark does not immediately give the cell a x2 multiplier. If a later winning symbol also explodes on the same position, the second explosion activates a x2 Multiplier Spot.

Further winning explosions on that same cell double the value each time: x2 → x4 → x8 → x16 → x32 → x64 → x128. The cell carries the multiplier, not the candy symbol that happens to land there.

If a single winning combination covers more than one active Multiplier Spot, Pragmatic Play’s rules add those spot values together before applying the result. They are not multiplied by one another. The result is an increasing multiplier mechanic tied to specific cells, rather than one multiplier for the whole round.

Maximum spot value: each individual Multiplier Spot can rise as high as x128.

What resets in the Sugar Rush base game?

In the base game, that grid memory is short-lived. Marked positions and active Multiplier Spots last only for the current tumble sequence, so they can keep growing while the same paid round continues producing new clusters.

Once the tumble sequence stops, the memory is wiped. The next paid round starts without the previous round’s marked cells or multiplier values.

That reset point is what makes Free Spins interesting. The multiplier rule stays the same, but Sugar Rush remembers the marked grid positions for much longer.

How Free Spins change the multiplier system

Sugar Rush awards Free Spins when three or more Scatter symbols appear. The number depends on how many Scatters land:

4 12
5 15
6 20
7 30

The same Scatter counts award the same quantities again if they appear during the feature, so Free Spins can be extended.

The important change is what happens between spins. Marked grid positions and their multiplier values no longer clear after each individual Free Spin. They stay active for the rest of the feature, so later tumbles can keep building positions marked earlier.

Multiplier Spots remain on the grid as the Free Spins feature continues.

That turns the same Multiplier Spot rule into a longer-lived state. In the base game, a useful cell survives only while one tumble chain continues. In Free Spins, the cell can remain relevant across several separate spins until the feature ends.

One important boundary: persistent multipliers do not, by themselves, mean Free Spins are more likely to win or that a higher multiplier makes the next tumble more likely to produce a cluster.

What is the RTP of Sugar Rush in Great Britain?

RTP is where Sugar Rush gets less tidy. There is no single figure Slotathon can treat as universal across Great Britain. Pragmatic Play’s current supplier data lists 96.50%, 95.50% and 94.50%, while UK certification also confirms a later 92.03% configuration.

So what was actually live in UK-facing clients? Slotathon checked 11 real-money game clients on 24-25 September 2026 and found three RTP settings in the in-game rules:

Slotathon Sugar Rush UK-facing RTP snapshot, 24-25 September 2026
RTP shown Clients observed Count
94.50% bet365, Betfred, MrQ, PlayOJO, Sky Vegas, Betway, Paddy Power 7
92.03% LeoVegas, William Hill, Virgin Games 3
96.50% Slots Temple 1

No 95.50% client appeared in this sample, but that does not make the configuration unavailable in Great Britain. It remains part of the certified UK set; it simply was not visible in these 11 clients on those dates.

And while 94.50% was the most common setting we saw, that does not make it the “standard UK RTP”. This is a dated snapshot, not market share, and another operator or later client check can show a different certified configuration.

There is also an 87.00% configuration in Latvia certification material. That demonstrates how widely the game can be configured internationally, but it is not evidence of an 87.00% Great Britain build.

What is the hit frequency of Sugar Rush?

Pragmatic Play’s supplier structured data lists a base-game hit frequency of 1 in 2.9 and a Free Game hit frequency of 1 in 323.

These are supplier metadata rather than a forecast of a session. Hit frequency and RTP describe different parts of the game’s maths, and neither tells you how often a particular grid position will reach x128 or what a short run of play will look like.

What is the maximum win in Sugar Rush?

Pragmatic Play’s reviewed first-party material gives Sugar Rush a maximum win of 5,000× bet.

The rules also specify a termination condition during Free Spins: if the total reaches 5,000×, the Free Spins round ends immediately and any remaining spins are forfeited.

That is simply the rule at the cap. It does not tell you how often a 5,000× result will occur.

Great Britain stakes and Feature Buy

For online slots in Great Britain, the statutory maximum stake per game cycle is £5 for customers aged 25 and over and £2 for customers aged 18 to 24. Operators can set lower limits.

That distinction is visible in the Sugar Rush sample itself. All 11 supplied UK-facing rules screens showed a £0.20 minimum bet. Nine showed a maximum of £5, while MrQ and William Hill showed £4. Those are dated client observations, not universal Sugar Rush limits.

Older UK rule sheets and generic Pragmatic supplier data contain much higher maximum-bet figures, but they come from different configuration contexts. For a current Great Britain answer, the statutory £5 / £2 ceilings and the lower limits shown by individual clients are the relevant figures.

Direct Bonus Buy / Feature Buy is not presented as available in Great Britain. Gambling Commission material records that feature buy-in slot products were required to be removed from GB-regulated operators. Sugar Rush does support a 100× Buy Free Spins option in reviewed non-GB material, including Sweden and Spain, so the game-level capability remains region-specific rather than universally absent.

Volatility and release date

On volatility, the sources are unusually consistent: Pragmatic Play supplier material, the reviewed UK rules and all 11 UK-facing screenshots in Slotathon’s September 2026 sample label Sugar Rush High volatility.

For the release date, Slotathon uses 30 June 2022, the date in Pragmatic Play’s supplier structured data.

Sugar Rush FAQ

How does Sugar Rush work?

Sugar Rush uses a 7×7 Cluster Pays grid. Five or more matching regular symbols connected horizontally or vertically form a winning cluster. Winning symbols disappear, replacements tumble into the gaps and repeated winning explosions on the same grid positions can build Multiplier Spots from x2 up to x128.

What is Cluster Pays in Sugar Rush?

Cluster Pays means Sugar Rush does not use paylines. A win needs at least five matching regular symbols connected horizontally or vertically on the 7×7 grid.

How do tumbles work in Sugar Rush?

After a winning cluster is paid, the winning symbols disappear. Symbols above fall into the empty spaces and new symbols enter from the top. If the new grid creates another win, the tumble process repeats.

How do Multiplier Spots work?

A winning explosion marks its grid position. The second winning explosion on that same position activates a x2 multiplier, and later winning explosions on the same cell double it through x4, x8, x16, x32, x64 and x128.

What is the maximum multiplier in Sugar Rush?

An individual Multiplier Spot can reach x128.

Do Sugar Rush multipliers reset?

In the base game, Multiplier Spots last through the current tumble sequence and clear when that sequence ends. During Free Spins, they persist across the whole feature instead.

Do Multiplier Spots persist during Free Spins?

Yes. Marked positions and active multiplier values remain across Free Spins until the feature ends, and later tumbles can continue increasing them.

How do you trigger Free Spins in Sugar Rush?

Three or more Scatter symbols trigger Free Spins.

How many Free Spins can Sugar Rush award?

Three, four, five, six or seven Scatters award 10, 12, 15, 20 or 30 Free Spins respectively.

Can Sugar Rush Free Spins retrigger?

Yes. During Free Spins, the same three-to-seven Scatter counts award the same 10, 12, 15, 20 or 30 additional spins.

What is the RTP of Sugar Rush?

Pragmatic Play’s current supplier family lists 96.50%, 95.50% and 94.50%. UK certification also verifies a 92.03% configuration, so one RTP should not be treated as universal.

What RTP versions did Slotathon observe at UK casinos?

Across 11 UK-facing clients checked on 24-25 September 2026, Slotathon observed 94.50% at seven clients, 92.03% at three and 96.50% at one.

Is 94.50% the standard UK Sugar Rush RTP?

No. It was the most common setting in Slotathon’s 11-client September 2026 sample, but that sample is not market share and does not establish one universal UK setting.

What is the hit frequency of Sugar Rush?

Pragmatic Play’s supplier data lists base-game hit frequency as 1 in 2.9 and Free Game hit frequency as 1 in 323.

What is the maximum win in Sugar Rush?

The reviewed first-party material gives Sugar Rush a 5,000× bet maximum. If the cap is reached during Free Spins, that round ends immediately and any remaining Free Spins are forfeited.

What is the maximum stake for Sugar Rush in Great Britain?

The statutory maximum stake per online-slot game cycle is £5 for customers aged 25 and over and £2 for customers aged 18 to 24. A particular operator or Sugar Rush client can set a lower maximum.

Does Sugar Rush have Bonus Buy or Feature Buy in Great Britain?

No. Slotathon does not present direct Bonus Buy or Feature Buy as available on GB-regulated online slots. Reviewed non-GB Sugar Rush material does support a 100× Buy Free Spins option in some other jurisdictions.

What is the volatility of Sugar Rush?

High. That label is supported by Pragmatic Play supplier material, UK rules and all 11 UK-facing rules screens in Slotathon’s September 2026 sample.

When was Sugar Rush released?

Slotathon uses 30 June 2022, the release date in Pragmatic Play’s supplier structured data.

Our methodology

How we researched Sugar Rush

Slotathon uses Pragmatic Play rules and certification to establish how Sugar Rush works and which configurations are documented. We then compare that with what players could actually see: the 11-client UK-facing screenshot sample records the settings visible on 24-25 September 2026.

That keeps two useful questions separate: what can exist, and what we actually observed.
